    • Digital Audio Broadcasting
    • digital transmission is made up of a string of ones and zeros 
    • no frequency bands to stick to 
    • the signal can be sent multiple times for the receiver to pick up - more reliable than traditional radio FM
    • the quality isn't always as clear as FM 
  • FM
    • Frequency Modulation
    • one of the radio broadcasting systems in the UK
    • uses frequencies from 87.5MHz to 108MHz
    • has a better quality sound than DAB
    • have to tune it in yourself
    • the signal is more prone to dropping in and out - with distance and disturbance
  • LW - AM - Long Wave 
    • Amplitude Modulation 
    • oldest radio broadcasting system
    • all radio stations broadcast in mono - singular sound, one sound level rather than two to specify between left and right
    • BBC Radio 4 + BBC Radio 5 - AM stations
  • MW - AM - Medium Wave
  • TV - Freeview, Sky, Virgin

  • Mobile Phones/Apps
    • advantage - can still listen to radio programmes after they are on air or live - can skip through the parts you don't want to listen to
