  • Purpose:

    • Educational 
      • educate the listener, to learn something - radio documentary, LBC
    • Inform 
      • the presenter is there to inform the listener information - weather, traffic, local radios such as Hallam 
    • Promote 
      • is the reason of the show to promote a service or a product 
  • Income:
    • Commercial 
      • advertising or sponsorship 
    • Public Radio 
      • government, license fee, BBC radio stations 
  • Scheduling:
    • dependant of when your radio production is broadcast, can have an affect on how the show should be structured
    • Breakfast
      • Capital - Roman Kemp, high energy, a lot of conversation and chat 
    • Daytime
      • most of music playing - more of a background noise
    • Drive Time
      • way home from work - similar to breakfast show, not as high energy, peak radio listening show
    • Evening 
      • music, wind down time, something educational depending, specialist music, BBC 1 7pm Dance Music 
    • Overnight
      • chill, quiet, not a lot of listeners, night shift workers,
